Former Dover Athletic skipper Connor Essam has completed a surprise return to the Vanarama National League club for the final nine games of the season.

Essam captained the Whites during the 2014/15 season in the National League having joined the club after being released by Crawley.

He helped the club to finish eighth in the league and they also reached the Third Round of the FA Cup, before succumbing to Premier League club Crystal Palace.

His form led to links with a number of Football League clubs, before he joined Leyton Orient last summer.

However, he has endured a tough time at Orient and now returns to Dover on loan for the remainder of the campaign
