Paul Malone has left Corby Town to sign for Evo-Stik Northern Premier League side Stamford.

The former Steelmen captain spent ten months on the sidelines following a double leg break in February 2015 and made his comeback against Nuneaton Town following a short loan spell with Nuneaton Town as part of his rehab.

Corby Town manager Tommy Wright told corbytownfc.co.uk; “After a long discussion with Paul at training last night, he has decided he wants to drop a level to go and sign for Stamford where he feels more comfortable playing after 10 months out.

“Also the lure of a contract that Stamford are in a position to offer gives him the security he feels he needs in case he gets injured again.

“We wish him well and the door isn’t shut. “I don’t think it’s a case of him jumping ship.

“I thank Molly for supporting me on a personal level and class him as a friend.”
