Midland League Premier Division club Walsall Wood have bolstered their promotion hopes by signing former Wolves star Sylvan Ebanks-Blake.

Wood have snapped up the ex-Molineux favourite after a short spell with Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division Central side Barwell.

The experienced 32-year-old spent a couple of months at the UK Flooring Direct Stadium, having joined from league rivals Halesowen Town, for whom he signed back in July.

Having progressed through the Manchester United academy during his teenage years, Ebanks-Blake went on to play for Plymouth Argyle, Ipswich Town, Preston North End, Chesterfield, Shrewsbury Town and AFC Telford United.

However, it is his time with Wolves, who he joined in January 2008 for £1.5m, that he will be best remembered, scoring 61 goals in around 200 games, earning England under-21 recognition.
