Chesterfield have confirmed the departure of experienced striker Chris O’Grady.
The 32-year-old former Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley man had joined the Spireites on a two-year deal from Brighton & Hove Albion last summer. However, he has now left the recently-relegated Vanarama National League club by mutual consent.
Primarily a hold-up forward, O’Grady at one point managed 15 goals in the Championship for Barnsley. It was a different story at Chesterfield, though, with only three goals in 41 appearances overall for the club.
He leaves Martin Allen’s side having reportedly been the club’s highest earner.
