Gateshead have announced the expansion of the club’s academy.

There will be ten new teams comprising players aged 7-16, representing the club across the country in the Junior Premier League and in the club’s Academy Games Programme.

The new teams join the current Under-18 and Under-19 scholars.

Heed academy coach Ben Clark said: “We’ll have a blueprint right across the academy.

“We’ll have a style of football and a philosophy from the first team that will run right through.

“If players aren’t going to Sunderland or Newcastle United then we want them to represent Gateshead.

“We’re ambitious, we want to make the academy the best we can and recruit the right staff who know the core values of what it takes to be a footballer.”
