Gateshead midfielder Nicky Deverdics spoke of a happy dressing room following Tuesday’s win over Spennymoor Town.

Both sides came into the local National League North clash following wins on Saturday over Brackley Town and Chester respectively.

JJ O’Donnell found the net with just three minutes on the clock, heading home Deverdics’ free-kick from close range, which ultimately proved to be the deciding factor in the game.

The midfielder spoke of a satisfied dressing room following the Heed’s second consecutive win, telling “Everyone’s happy!

“Back-to-back wins, back-to-back clean sheets, seven points out of the last three, it’s great!

“You watched us against Farsley and we’ve come a long way in a short space of time.

“I think the fans were a bit worried at the time but they stuck by us and went to York in good numbers, and now we’re starting to change a few minds.”
