Gateshead FC have responded to news circulating today regarding a winding-up order for the club.
The Heed have confounded expectations this season by getting themselves into the Vanarama National League play-off places, despite well-documented off-field issues which includes the club being under a transfer embargo. The club is today listed on the Companies Court winding-up list and Gateshead have responded with this statement:
“The club is well aware of the winding-up order and has been speaking regularly with HMRC in order to settle the debts. This equates to £20,223.61.
We are also speaking to the National League in order to release funds from our £200,000 bond in order to settle these debts and ensure the order goes no further. This was discussed at last Friday’s meeting.”
