Gateshead say that all of the club’s senior players have now been paid their March wages.

Earlier this week, the players had called for owner Dr Ranjan Varghese and financial advisor Joe Cala to go, following a season of turmoil at the club, as former Rochdale chairman Chris Dunphy attempted to push through a takeover. It was stated that wages had yet to be paid for the month of March, with manager Ben Clark told by Cala that they would not be paid unless he called the National League and successfully requested them to release funds from the bond.

For the months of January, February and March 2019 in particular, players and staff say they have encountered several problems receiving wages, with a number of outstanding expenses still owed. There is no confirmation yet that the club’s Under-19s have been paid.
