Canvey Island have announced the signing of 21-year old central midfielder Mitchell Gilbey from East Thurrock United.
Gilbey was a product of Canvey’s Academy side, during which time he reached the FA Youth Cup 3rd Round and was called up to represent English Colleges.
He broke into the first team squad in the 2011/12 season, going on to make 34 appearances and scoring 2 goals before joining East Thurrock United in June 2013.
In total he made 106 appearances and scored 21 goals for the Rocks.
