Gloucester City have confirmed that James Rowe is in talks with Chesterfield over their vacant managerial position.

Rowe’s side have had an excellent start to the season and currently top the National League North with 23 points from nine games.

An update from Chesterfield yesterday evening said the National League side were hopeful that a new manager will be in place ahead of Saturday’s game at Weymouth.

Gloucester City this morning tweeted: “We can confirm that James Rowe is currently in talks with Chesterfield and will be making no further comment at this stage.”

Former Aldershot Town assistant boss Rowe, 37, took over at the Tigers last November.
