Gloucester City have extended the loan of Fabien Robert from Forest Green Rovers for another month.
Robert established himself as a fan favourite at City after scoring 17 seconds into his debut. More goals and a string of brilliant performances led to City officials moving quickly to secure an extension for the French midfielder amid burgeoning interest from other clubs at National League South/North level.
Chairman Rod Jenner had this to say:
“We were of course delighted with the impact that Fabien has made and I’m assured that he is a real character in the dressing room as well as a brilliant asset on the pitch. He took the time to speak with and say hello to a number of our younger fans which shows the kind of guy that he is.
“The fact that he was willing to drop to National League South level in order to get competitive game time shows his attitude and it’s no surprise that another team made an approach. However, we moved quickly to secure his services for another month and our growing relationship with Forest Green and the fact that he is happy here were the deciding factor.
“Our relationship with Forest Green Rovers is a valuable one for us and it’s great that our local league clubs know that we will look after their players and know that we can provide a high standard of competitive football with the right support structure.”
