Gloucester City Council has unanimously passed a motion to support the club’s planned return home and called on local people and businesses to back the club, in a move which was welcomed by all at Gloucester City AFC.

Chairman Rod Jenner said: “Everyone at the club is grateful and appreciative of the support shown by the council’s motion. Cllr James has clearly seen the progress we have made and it is a testament to the hard work which has been going on behind the scenes that they have confidence in us to deliver the stadium.

“We wholeheartedly agree with the call for local people, businesses and influencers to support the club and we are always looking for new supporters and sponsors to be part of our journey home. This Club has been through a whirlwind of change in the past year, with many people doubting us bouncing back from such a position. However, we’ve worked hard to install procedures of best practice and are now looking ahead instead of just treading water. With the additions made to the Club infrastructure in recent months and even this past week with Alex Petheram’s appointment to the board, this Council motion shows the faith that the City leaders have in the club.

“We are really gathering tangible momentum now and with progress at Meadow Park coming along every day, it’s plain for all to see that Gloucester City is definitely coming home and that’s the bottom line.”

The club will be releasing the plans for the amended scheme to its supporters and the general public next week.
