Godmanchester Rovers boss Ollie Drake will keep pushing for the Eastern Counties Premier title, despite Saturday’s defeat putting Histon firmly in the driving seat, Cambridgeshire Live report.

Drake’s side went down to a shock 5-3 at FC Clacton, which saw the former league leaders slip down to third, six points off the Stutes.

The usual FA summer league restructures could see more promotion places become available, but manager Drake will keep chasing top spot.

“I’ve not heard anything about extra promotion places so I will keep going about my job pushing for us to win that league,” he said.

“I don’t want to be second, I want to win it. If at the end of the day they put us up, great, as we fully deserve it. But we’re prepared, whether they put us up or not.”
