Colin Gordon was excited to have secured the services of promising young midfielder Ben Clarke after Kidderminster Harriers handed him an 18-month deal today.
The Harriers Academy prospect has been signed to his first professional contract on what is his 17th birthday.
It follows a strong first season with the Academy for Ben, who has also enjoyed training and practice matches with the senior squad here at Aggborough.
Giving his reaction to the news, Colin explained: “We’ve been fully aware of him for about four or five months now but he was only 16, turning17 today so we’ve been able to sign him before anyone else gets there.
“He is a raw talent and a great prospect – he’s a very exciting player so it will be great to welcome him into the group.
“He has great awareness, as good as anybody I’ve seen in that position at that age.
“He’s a great presence on the pitch; he reads the game particularly well.
“He’s a very good passer of the ball but is also very tenacious – he doesn’t mind a tackle so he is one I think the supporters will relate to.”
