Torquay United head coach Gary Owers says he would have ‘no problems’ if transfer-listed duo Josh Gowling and Jon-Paul Pittman remain at Plainmoor next season.

Owers, who revealed that he expects to finalise several signings in the near-future after the new-contract ‘deadline’ passed at the weekend, placed experienced centre-back Gowling and striker Pittman on the list in April. They were both signed by former player-manager Kevin Nicholson on two-year deals last summer, along with goalkeeper Ryan Clarke, who has since left to join National South rivals Bath City.

“I made them available for the benefit of both parties,” said Owers. “There has been one or two inquiries about both of them, but nothing firm yet.”

Asked about the possibility of them staying with the club, Owers said: “I am open-minded about that.

“If ‘JP’ and Josh come back, and if they are ready to be part of the squad, I have no problems with that.”
