Jamie Stuart reckons he can’t wait for the start of the new season to arrive and is vowing to put as much into managing Grays Athletic as he did as a playing legend for the Ryman Premier’s Blues.
The club’s former skipper, pictured, has enjoyed building his squad up over the summer, adding no fewer than 13 players. The latest is midfielder Adeyinka Cole and the fans may be seeing a totally changed line-up come kick-off to the 2016-17 season.
The Blues boss and his side begin their top flight campaign in the Ryman Premier at Leatherhead on Saturday week (August 13) and the excitement is certainly building as he looks to recapture the glory days.
Stuart, 39, said: “What we want to do is bring back some happy memories. There’s a lot of great people still involved – the FA Trophy days were great and we want more success like that in the coming years.
“I had probably the best time in my career at Grays. The dressing room was incredible, can we create the same magic? I hope so.”
Grays aim to be playing back in their hometown in the next few years with plans for a community stadium pushing ahead but first it’s the 2016-17 campaign. The Griffin Grays Group will be the club’s new home shirt sponsor and Stuart is raring to go at Fetcham Grove next weekend.
