FC United of Manchester have issued an update on their managerial vacancy, highlighting that caretaker boss Tom Greaves is a strong candidate.
Karl Marginson’s 12-year tenure recently came to an end, leaving the club to seek only the second manager in their history.
A statement on the club site reads:
‘The club has been inundated with an excellent calibre of applicants wanting to take on the vacant first team managers job at FCUM.
The large list of applicants will be whittled down to a shortlist and candidates will be contacted for interviews shortly.
Board member responsible for the first team matters, Jim Brunt said “The potential for this club is huge and that has been reflected in the number of experienced candidates that have contacted the club.
However, it’s important we get the appointment right and therefore we are putting no deadlines on the process at this stage. First interviews with suitably qualified candidates will take place over the next couple weeks. In the meantime, everybody at the club has been immediately impressed with how Tom Greaves has started his managerial career and appointing a club legend such as Tom remains a very attractive option.”‘
