Gloucester City boss Paul Groves believes their 4-1 friendly loss to fellow Step 2 club Oxford City may benefit them in the long run.

Speaking to Gloucestershire Live, the ex-Grimsby Town and AFC Bournemouth manager explained:

“I felt we started slowly and we found ourselves chasing the game a little bit.

“There were periods in the second half where we can be encouraged with one or two bits, but we’ve got to do better.”
