Guiseley boss Adam Lockwood is looking for a reaction from his side following Saturday’s 6-0 defeat at Aldershot Town when Tranmere Rovers come to Nethermoor on Tuesday night.

The week started well for the Lions with a 2-2 draw at home to Ebbsfleet United but defeats at Gateshead and to the Shots have left the Lions with one point after the three opening games.

Tranmere Rovers have also had an inconsistent start to their third season at this level, an opening day 0-0 draw at Torquay United was followed with a 3-1 win on Tuesday night against Woking but they fell to a 1-0 defeat at home to Sutton United on Saturday.

Rovers include summer signing and former Lion Ollie Norburn in their squad for Tuesday night’s match but James Norwood is suspended following a red card picked up in the first game of the season.

Speaking after Saturday’s defeat boss Adam Lockwood said “One thing for sure Aldershot are a very good side as they were last year, they ask questions of you but for me we have come up short all over the pitch, a lot of individual mistakes.”

“There was times when I thought we could get a foothold back in the game but we didn’t, if you are like that and cannot break that cycle you have days like this, it is very disappointing.”

“The main thing was in open play they pulled us apart and stretched us, we did not cope very well.”

Adam also apologised to the travelling supporters following the match  “I’d like to say sorry to the fans that travelled, we have to turn things round and go for the next match we have which is a big game as we all know.”

“We have to do what we believe in, prepare right and break down the negatives from today and make sure it does not happen again.”

Lockwood spoke about the substitutes who came on when the game was out of reach “I thought the subs that came on today, in difficult circumstances when you have not got a foothold in the game, gave me food for thought moving forward and that is all I can ask from the squad.”

Looking ahead to Tuesday night and seeing a reaction from his squad the manager said “When you get beat 6-0 it is very important.”

“We need to bounce back from things, set backs, that’s life you have to deal with those things. Don’t feel sorry for yourself and get yourself up. The games come quick and fast and you have to bounce back.”
