Alex Purver has joined Swedish club Östersunds FK from Guiseley.
The midfielder becomes ÖFK’s first new acquisition this summer, having impressed in a training match against GIF Sundsvall.
As well as Guiseley, Purver has also played in Leeds United’s Under-18 and Under-23 teams. Purver’s contract is for 18 months and he is available to play after the Swedish transfer window opens on 17th July.
Purver said: “Östersund are known in England for their game in the Europa League when they beat Arsenal away. I knew of course about Graham Potter, and now also our English coach Ian Burchnall.
“It will be fun to play and help the team.”
ÖFK’s coach Burchnall quickly became aware of Purver’s play during training and the match against GIF Sundsvall. He said:
“He has impressed us during the training period and has a lovely attitude and mentality. In addition, he is a smart player we want to use in the midfield.”
