Having seen Saturday’s game against Braintree Town fall victim of the wet weather, Torquay United are set to face our first home game of 2016 on Tuesday evening with the visit of Welling United (kick-off 7.45pm).

The Wings sit just one place and four points above the Gulls following their 4-0 home reverse at the hands of Grimsby Town on Saturday.

United player-manager, Kevin Nicholson, has admitted that his side can’t wait to get back into action.

“It was disappointing to see Saturday’s game fall victim of the weather,” he said. “We’re chomping at the bit to get out there and make a return to action as we look to build on our performances over the festive period.

“Like ourselves, Welling United are battling hard for the points and I expect them to come here and be well-organised and ready to face the challenge that stands before them.

“We’re going into battle every game and I need players out there who are going to put themselves on the line and out-work the opposition with sheer graft and determination.”
