Torquay United have announced that they have entered in an agreement to sell the club.

The Vanarama National League club have been involved in takeover talks with a number of parties over the last eighteen months, but now it seems as a sale will finally go through.

The name of the prospective new owners of the Gulls is unable to be revealed due to “a contractual requirement for confidentiality.

The news will come as a further boost for the club after their impressive 1-0 away win at Dagenham and Redbridge on Tuesday night, a result that left them in seventeenth position in the Vanarama National League, five points clear of the relegation zone.

The news was released in a statement on the club’s website.  It read “The Board of Directors are pleased to announce that they entered into an agreement to sell the club, subject to final contract and due diligence, and hope to have completion by 16th December 2016.

Due to a contractual requirement for confidentiality, the Board will not release any further statements until the 16th December (or completion of the sale if earlier).”
