Vanarama National League club Torquay United have appointed former Southampton academy coach Dave Hedges as their new Head of Recruitment.
The move comes as the Gulls look to reinstate an academy at the club.
General Manager Geoff Harrop believes that Hedges’ appointment will mean thay they have a “great asset” within the club.
Speaking to the club official website torquayunited.com, Harrop said “Dave has vast experience in picking out players for some big clubs,” said general manager Geoff Harrop.
“He’s a great character, and he knows a lot of people in the game. Contacts are everything at this level of football.
“He’ll be our ears and eyes in the football world. Sound recruitment has to be at the heart of the club.”
“Dave was heavily involved in the coaching of Premiership defender Tyrone Mings who is now at Bournemouth. He’ll be a great asset in our bid to bring back a Youth Academy to Torquay United.”
Hedges joins the Gulls after spending time in a similar role at Yeovil Town and has also worked as a scout for Turkish Süper Lig club Fenerbache.
