Macclesfield Town have agreed the signing of Torquay United midfielder Courtney Richards.

23-year-old Richards has signed a one-year contract at the Moss Rose that will start on July 1st.

Formerly a Brighton youth player, Richards was the Torquay captain and will be a big asset to John Askey’s midfield.

He left Brighton in the summer of 2014 and soon arrived in Devon where he would make 38 appearances in his first season with Torquay and score three goals.

The powerful midfielder followed that up with another impressive season, once again netting three goals in 36 games.

Richards would once again be influential for Torquay last season but a knee injury limited the Jamaican to 29 appearances.

Courtney becomes the fourth new arrival at the Moss Rose this summer following the arrivals of Jared Hodgkiss, Scott Wilson and Shwan Jalal.
