Torquay United’s leading scorer Jamie Reid has thrown himself into two of the club’s hardest training sessions of the season in a bid to prove that he is over his recent ankle injury.
Fifteen-goal Reid had missed two of the Gulls’ recent five successive defeats before he was taken off during their 5-1 loss to Stockport County at Plainmoor at the weekend.
But manager Gary Johnson revealed: “Reidy was the first one to hold his hand up after the game – the specialist had said he was fine to play, but he hadn’t worked out in his mind the damage he felt he was doing by playing.
“I was willing to give him as long as he wanted, but he turned up on Monday and said ‘I want to train.'”
