Gateshead youngster Luke Hannant has put pen to paper on a new contract that will see him staying at the International Stadium until the end of the 2017/18 season.
Hannant joined the Heed from EBAC Northern League Division Two club Team Northumbria last summer and has been one of the surprise packages of the club’s play-off push.
So far this season Hannant has made fourteen appearances for the club, six of them coming in the starting line-up.
He scored his first goal for the club in their 4-1 win over Barrow on New Year’s Eve, a win that ended the Bluebirds club record unbeaten run.
The news will come as a further boost to Neil Aspin after the Heed boosted their play-off hopes with a 1-0 win over Dagenham and Redbridge at the weekend.
They currently sit two points and two places outside of the National League’s play-off places.
