Hengrove Athletic have announced the re-signing of midfielder Asa White
White, 27, rejoins from fellow Premier Division side Odd Down (Bath) after leaving Hengrove at the end of last season. He has netted 14 goals in the first half of this season, including a screamer against his old side in August.
He was top scorer at Norton Lane in last season’s promotion-winning squad, scoring 35 times in 44 appearances and was also an integral part of the 2015/16 Les Phillips Cup winning team, scoring eight times from centre-half. His form in recent seasons saw him called up for the Toolstation Western League XI for their game v England C at Melksham in October.
Manager John Durbin, speaking to the club website this morning, said: “Bringing Asa back is a fantastic signing for the club. He was a key part of our promotion squad last season and everyone at the club is delighted he’s decided to come home.
“Everyone knows what he’s about and he’ll bring more than just goals to the team. He’s brilliant to have around the dressing room and his work rate is second to none.
“I couldn’t think of a better player to bring in to the club and just hope he takes off from where he was last season. He had a good spell at Odd Down and I’d like to go on record to thank them for agreeing to waive the seven days so we could get Asa involved this weekend.”
