Ex-Notts County owner Alan Hardy has admitted that he had no business plan when he took charge at Meadow Lane and was “incredibly unprepared” to run a football club.
Hardy’s turbulent reign as Magpies owner came to an end this summer with the club nose diving towards liquidation and already relegated from the Football League.
Before completing his Notts takeover in January 2017, Hardy already boasted successful local business ventures with Paragon Interiors and The Nottinghamshire Golf and Country Club.
But was still left stunned by the challenges faced running his childhood football club.
“I’ll be honest and say, even with a decent amount of business experience behind me, it was a very steep learning curve.,” Hardy told FourFourTwo.
“It happened very quickly, literally in four days from December 19 to Christmas, with the lawyers and accountants working over the holiday to complete the due diligence process.
“Arriving new into the club in January 2017, without a business plan or model to follow, was enormously challenging.”
