Matt Gardiner is relishing Kidderminster Harriers’ upcoming festive derbies against Worcester City.
Harriers meet City at Bromsgrove on Boxing Day before hosting the return game at Aggborough on New Year’s Day.
More than 1,000 will be roaring on the team against Carl Heeley’s men in the first of the two meetings and, looking ahead, Gardiner admits he’s eagerly anticipating the meetings.
“It’s amazing and it will be a really good spectacle, especially for Worcestershire,” he said.
“That’s what Boxing Day fixtures are all about.
“That’s what I was brought up on – you play your local teams [over Christmas] and there’s a lot of friendly rivalry.”
City’s season has been solid to-date after a difficult start to the campaign.
Gardiner added: “They’ve done great and I’m sure they’ll continue to do so.
“It’s going to be great… we’ll have to make sure we’re ready to put on a performance.”
