Luke Maxwell has said that being able to return to Kidderminster Harriers on loan played a big part in his move to Birmingham City.

The teenager completed a £75,000 move to St Andrew’s on Tuesday on a long-term deal, but makes an immediate comeback to Aggborough on loan until the end of the campaign.

Speaking about his “whirlwind” move to the Championship outfit, the midfielder admitted that remaining with the current squad was important.

While he’ll spend a couple of days training with the Blues and developing his talents further, the 18 year-old will be back in training with the Harriers squad in time to prepare for each match.

“A massive part of [my development] is playing for a first-team at Kidderminster… it’s been a really good experience and has got me to where I am now.

“I’m playing against men and in front of a crowd – that has helped me progress a lot, so going back out on loan is going to help me.

“Spending a couple of days every week training [at Blues] will make the beginning of next season a lot more comfortable.”
