Hartlepool United manager Craig Harrison has added to his coaching staff at Victoria Park with the appointment of goalkeeper coach Bernard Hirmer.

The German had spells with the likes of Dynamo Dresden, Bristol Rovers and Stockport County during his playing career.

During his time with the latter he played under former Newcastle United, Liverpool and Germany midfielder Dietmar Hamann.

The forty nine year old worked with Harrison in his time with Welsh club TNS and has now been reunited with the Pools boss.

Speaking to the club’s official website Harrison said “I’m really pleased that Bernie has agreed to join us at The Vic,” Harrison admitted.

“He’s got great experience from his playing career and is a top class coach as well as someone I have a great working relationship with.”
