Nigel Clough has given an update on Marcus Dinanga’s loan spell at Hartlepool United – and he says Burton Albion will ask the striker what he wants to do for the second half of the season, report Derbyshire Live.

The Albion academy graduate – who played 67 minutes of Wednesday’s FA Cup replay defeat to Gillingham – has made four starts in 15 appearances for the Pool, without yet finding the net for his loan side. He previously scored 59 goals in the past two seasons, at Matlock Town in 2016-17 and AFC Telford United in 2017-18.

But the 21-year-old is yet to make the same impact at Hartlepool, with opportunities limited and the new loan signing of Middlesbrough under-23s forward Tyrone O’Neill adding further competition in the forward ranks.

Clough says they will talk with Dinanga about his campaign so far at the National League outfit and whether to continue the loan.

“He didn’t play much, and then he’s played a few recently,” said the Albion manager.

“We’re going to have a chat with Marcus and see what he wants to do.

“If he’s not playing regularly then he might feel like he wants to come out and go somewhere else, we’ve got that option.”
