Matthew Bates has revealed Hartlepool United will NOT replace striker Jake Cassidy, say the Hartlepool Mail.

The frontman went on loan to Maidstone United late on Friday evening having been frozen out of Bates’ first-team plans in recent weeks.

And Bates believes he has got the strength in depth his current crop – with Marcus Dinanga on the bench and returning Luke Williams able to play up top if needed – to not have to dip into the transfer market at this stage in the National League season.

When asked by the Mail whether Cassidy’s departure would see some movement, Bates said: “No. I am happy with the squad we have got. We have no intention to replace.”
