Hartlepool United have signed Gateshead defender Fraser Kerr.
The deal for the 26-year-old Scot is an undisclosed fee and is an especially significant blow for Gateshead, who remain under a transfer embargo. Former Scotland Under-21 international and Motherwell defender Kerr signed for the Tynesiders in July 2017.
Gateshead have performed remarkably under testing circumstances this season, mounting a promotion challenge under manager Steve Watson before his recent departure to York City. Ben Clark’s side have remained in contention and are currently only out of the Vanarama National League play-off places on goal difference.
The Heed say that they rejected Hartlepool’s initial bid for Kerr ‘before a deal was able to be forced through.’
