It has been confirmed that Hartlepool United’s outstanding tax bill has now been paid.

The news was announced by Rachel Cartwright via Facebook, say the Northern Echo. Cartwright is the Pools fan who started the online campaign to raise the money needed and she has now confirmed that the bill of around £48,000 has been covered and transferred over.

The Echo say that over £86,000 was raised online and the distribution of remaining money has yet to be determined, with staff and player wages due to be paid in two weeks. They say there has been little interest in buying the club, with time running out to secure the club’s future.
