Hartlepool United won the weekend’s second play-off game in the National League.

Pools made it through to the semi-final with a 3-2 home victory over Bromley this afternoon.

It looked like a thrashing could be on the cards as Dave Challinor’s side raced into a three-goal lead by 24 minutes, with all the goals coming in a seven-minute spell, two from Rhys Oates and one from Luke Armstrong.

Andy Woodman’s Bromley regrouped and got a goal back early in the second half via substitute James Alabi.

A long throw-in from Chris Bush deep into stoppage time found its way in after what looked like a touch from Alex Mitchell. The goal offered a very brief sliver of hope at 3-2 but the final whistle was just around the corner.

Hartlepool will travel to Stockport County for next Sunday’s semi-final, with Torquay United hosting Notts County the day before.
