Matthew Bates has admitted Hartlepool United will be without Andrew Davies for Tuesday’s game at Braintree Town after he limped out of Saturday’s defeat to Ebbsfleet United.

The skipper tumbled awkwardly on his ankle during the second half of the encounter at The Super 6 Stadium and now club medics must wait until the swelling subsides before investigating further.

“It’s too early at the moment but it doesn’t look great, to be honest,” he told Pools PlayerHD.

“We have to wait until the swelling settles down before we can tell the severity but it looks like he will miss at least Tuesday’s game so the other lads will have to step up.”
