Having lost the services of Millwall loanee goalkeeper Harry Girling rather sooner than had been anticipated, Hastings United boss Garry Wilson has raided another Football League side in search of a replacement, and has acquired an outfield player into the bargain too.
Girling initially joined the U’s for a twenty-eight day period that ended after the 4-2 win at Walton & Hersham on 13 February, but the arrangement was subsequently renewed for a further four weeks. The Lions were quickly forced to recall Girling though, but did allow him to play in Saturday’s victory at home to Tooting & Mitcham, when he kept his second clean sheet in five appearances.
Brighton & Hove Albion U21 keeper Harry Doherty will take over between the posts for the next twenty-eight days, with the nineteen year old having agreed a loan move to the Pilot Field today. The Irishman joined the Seagulls in the summer of 2014 after starting his junior career with Charlton Athletic.
Doherty is set to be joined at United by twenty year old midfielder teammate Robin Deen, who has also been at the Amex Stadium since 2014 and has spent a month on loan at Ryman Premier Division side Lewes earlier this season. Both new signings are expected to be part of the United squad that is due to visit Three Bridges tomorrow evening
