FC Halifax Town’s Danny Hattersley grabbed the assist for the winner on Saturday, telling Shaymen Player HD he is glad to be back.
The forward made his return to the squad on Tuesday night, his first appearance since Jim Harvey took over in November. And he was right in the action against Forest Green, nodding into the path of Shaquille McDonald who struck the viral winner.
Speaking to Shaymen Player, Hattersley said: “I’m delighted that Jim (Harvey) has finally given me a chance.
I’ve been working hard and training hard behind the scenes and he’s given me a game. Today I came on, did my bit and got the assist for the goal which is great for the confidence.”
Having been loaned out to Chester earlier this season, Hattersley got half an hour down in Nailsworth and notched the assist just a minute after his introduction.
“The ball came up to me and we won a corner straight away. I was then first to the ball and Shaq was there to finish it off.”
The victory has seen Town rise out of the drop zone with just one game remaining, and it is a game that Hattersley is relishing.
“It is in our own hands now. If we win, we stay up, it is as simple as that. I can’t think of a better place to do that than at home, at The Shay in front of all the fans who are buzzing us to get the result. I do think we will stay up.”
