Havant and Waterlooville have confirmed Shaun Gale has left Westleigh Park.

Gale joined the Hawks back in 2000 as a player and has spent most of the past 19 years involved with the club, varying from player, manager, assistant manager and community manager.

He will be most fondly remembered for managing the side in the historic FA Cup fourth round tie against Liverpool at Anfield in 2008.

As assistant manager under Lee Bradbury, he was a key part behind the scenes of the team which won back-to-back promotions into the National League in 2017 and 2018.

In the community, he has been a key part of the success of the Many Shades of Grey Walking Football Team which has become one of the biggest in the country.

To mark his hard work and dedication through both the high and tricky moments in the club’s history there will be a benefit year in his honour, which will take place at a later date.

The club say his status as a legend of Havant and Waterlooville is unquestionable and is always welcome back to Westleigh Park with open arms.
