Alan Payne and Paul Reid, joint-managers of Whitehawk, have signed vastly experienced midfielder Brian Howard.

Howard`s previous clubs include Southampton, Swindon, Barnsley, Portsmouth, Bristol City, CKS Sofia, Birmingham City and Oxford United.

Howard, born in Winchester, represented England from under-16s to under-20s from 1999 to 2003.

He also scored a memorable goal for Barnsley as they beat Liverpool 2-1 in the FA Cup Fifth Round in 2008 going on to beat Chelsea in the next round before losing to Cardiff in the semi-final. He was named in the Championship team of the year that year.

He signed for Eastleigh in January 2015 and made eighteen appearances.

He then dropped into the Sydenhams Football League (Wessex) with Alresford Town and, more recently, Romsey Town.
