Ahead of his farewell game against Barrow, Havant & Waterlooville boss Lee Bradbury paid tribute to legendary captain Brian Stock.

Stock will go down as the man that skippered the historic back to back promotion sides in 2017 & 2018 respectively.

And as the curtain comes down on a great career, the gaffer was full of praise for the club’s greatest ever captain.

Bradbury said: “He’s been the most influential signing that I have made at this football club.

“To lose him at this stage is massive for us really. Both as a person and as a player I have massive respect for him and I know so do the players and everyone involved at the football club.

“A big loss to us, but I’m pleased to have had him over the past four/five years and he’s been huge for me.”

The Hawks boss believes that he will a character which will be sorely missed behind the scenes.

“(We’re going to miss) his professionalism, the standards which he brings to the team, how he conducts himself and he leads by example.

“We’re missing him, Paul Robinson, Ed Harris, all of a sudden Wes Fogden’s coming back now so the experience at the spine of the team I planned to have has been lost for one reason or another.

“As fas as Stocky’s concerned I think it will be a massive loss for us.”

And the gaffer feels the next person to skipper the Hawks will have big shoes to fill.

“We’re not expecting whoever it maybe to be another Brian Stock.

“It’s taken him 20 years to become the player and the person that he is, but it’s someone to aspire to become for sure.”
