Maidstone United have announced the departure of Joe Healy.

The midfielder told the club this week that he has had a change of heart and instead of playing for the Stones this season as agreed, will be joining league rivals Dover Athletic.

Healy joined the Stones in the summer of 2015 from Welling United.

Previously with Millwall, where he made a handful of first-team appearances, the 29-year-old signed for the Wings in August 2013.

Left-footed Healy scored 35 goals in 202 appearances for the Wings, helping them to the Conference (National League) South title in 2013.

Stones boss Jay Saunders said: “I am disappointed with Joe’s decision, especially after I’d kept a place in the squad for him since June. This happens in football and we just have to move on”.
