Hereford manager Josh Gowling has spoken of his sadness at seeing the league season ended early.

Gowling was speaking ahead of the Bulls’ FA Trophy quarter-final tie with Aldershot Town this weekend.

The National League North side will travel south to play their National League opponents, whose league campaign is carrying on, unlike Hereford.

Gowling said of last Thursday’s announcement over the 2020/21 season being declared null and void:

“Financially, you can understand why the clubs voted the way they did. As a manager, it’s heartbreaking because of the amount of work we’ve put in over the season.

“For it to be curtailed just as we’re starting to get a bit of a run together is disappointing, but because of the finances, you can understand why clubs have voted the way they have.”
