Hereford captain Jimmy Oates is currently on trial with Exeter City.

The defender featured in the Grecians’ 3-1 win at Bideford on Tuesday night in their first pre-season game of the year.

Oates, 26, was listed as a trialist during the win, and was included in the starting XI that saw Matt Taylor’s youthful side record a comfortable victory in north Devon.

Born in Australia, Oates joined Hereford in August 2015, and was voted the club’s player of the year during the 2016/17 season.

Bulls manager Pete Beadle is hopeful Oates will return to the club for Saturday’s friendly against AFC Wulfrunians, but is already looking for a replacement.
