Hereford have given an update following the postponement of their game against York City last weekend.

The National League North fixture was announced late on Friday afternoon as called off, with the club describing ‘a potential COVID incident’.

Hereford have now said in an update:

“On Friday, a member of the playing staff recorded a positive lateral flow test (LFT), and three further members of playing staff recorded Covid-like symptoms throughout the morning.

“We quickly reported these incidents to the National League, and all four people undertook PCR tests throughout Friday.

“With the potential that Covid-19 had started to spread within the first-team squad, and the likelihood that the PCR test results would not be received before the players would need to set out for York on Saturday morning, our club medical officer and league medical officer agreed that the safest decision was unfortunately to postpone the trip to York City.

“So far, the PCR tests have come back negative (including the PCR test for the person who had recorded a positive LFT).”
