FA Vase holders Morpeth Town have announced the signing of midfielder Mark Doninger from Norwegian side Valdres FK.

Doninger returns to the Northern League after spending last season with Shildon, during which time he won the Northern League Division One title and the League Cup.

The twenty seven year old spend time with Newcastle United’s academy earlier in his career and counts the likes of Blyth Spartans and Bedlington Terriers amongst his former clubs.

During his time with the Magpies, Doninger captained the club’s reserve side but never made a first team appearance for the club.

Doninger has also spent time abroad during his career after spells with Sligo Rovers (Republic of Ireland), IA Akranes, UMF Starjnan (both Iceland) and Perth Glory (Australia).

Donninger goes straight into the Highwaymen squad for their EBAC Northern League game at Bishop Auckland on Tuesday night.
