An historic Bradford Park Avenue flag has been donated back to the club.

Viv Hanson, a former secretary of the club, donated the flag after spotting an Avenue shirt in a pub.

The flag was flown at the old Horton Park Avenue ground, and when the original club played at Valley Parade before going bust.

It was then used when Bradford Park Avenue reformed as a Sunday league side, therefore providing the missing link between the old club and the new club.

The flag was also flown at Bradford’s City Hall the last time Avenue were invited to a civic reception.

It was in the Pallet Bar in Boothtown where Viv spotted supporter Martin Ackroyd in his Avenue shirt following the recent away victory at FC United of Manchester.

Martin was with current secretary Colin Barker as Viv recalled her time working for the club over difficult times.

The club then invited her to the recent home match against Alfreton Town.

Avenue are now hoping to hang the flag at the main gate at the Horsfall Stadium when the first team have a home match.
