Hitchin Town have signed striker Steve Cawley, who joins on loan from National League South side Hemel Hempstead Town.
Cawley’s previous clubs include Chesham United, Bishop’s Stortford and Concord Rangers, where his goalscoring record was particularly impressive, finding the back of the net 88 times in 225 appearances for The Beach Boys in the National League South.
29-year-old Cawley then joined the Tudors at the start of the 2018/19 season, scoring 10 in 35 appearances in all competitions.
Speaking of the loan signing, first-team manager Mark Burke said:
“I’m really pleased to welcome Steve to Hitchin Town. He’s a player I’ve admired for a long-time now and comes highly recommended from various people, including Jay Dowie who he played with at Concord.
“We’ve been needing to bring some experience to the squad, which he brings lots of. Add to that his goalscoring record and he’s the perfect addition to the squad.”
He is available for Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup Second Round Qualifying match versus local rivals Barton Rovers.
