Former Hartlepool United defender Darren Holden has signed for Gateshead.

The 22-year-old was one of six players released by Pools manager Ronnie Moore at the end of last season as he looked to refresh a squad that narrowly avoided relegation from the Football League.

But Holden no time securing a new club, joining Scottish Premier League side Ross County on a two-year deal.

Holden made eleven appearances for Pools in 2014/15 but barely featured once Moore took charge.

He made a total of sixty appearances for Pools.

However, he has made only a handful of League Cup appearances for County`s first-team this season, and has been mainly featuring in their under-21 side.
